032 – Eurotex International supply two 6-cylinder Paxman Valenta engines

Eurotex International Ltd has successfully completed a contract for BAe, a leading UK Support Agency, to supply two reconditioned 6RP200M(E) Paxman Valenta engines.

As part of the comprehensive supply contract, all component parts, sub assemblies and final assemblies were ‘ranged’ to ensure the magnetic properties of the engine were known throughout the assembly procedure. Eurotex International Ltd were also tasked with the job of fitting new ‘degaussing wires’ to the engines prior to dispatch in readiness for final ranging.

Our stringent ISO 9001-2000 control procedures were followed throughout the refurbishment to guarantee both engines met the very high level test procedures set by our client, which included:

  • Engine condition report showing measurements taken before and after refurbishment covering all major components
  • 56 hour run time covering all engine speeds carried out on our newly installed test facility
  • Maximum load, full speed testing for over eight hours
  • Exhaust particle testing
  • Full vibration analysis
  • Our client was present throughout testing which was certified by independent inspection carried out by Lloyds

After successful testing at Eurotex International Ltd and despite adverse weather conditions, both engines were dispatched on time. This allowed for final range testing, where it was stated that the results exceeded expectations.

031 – Eurotex build replacement Paxman generator engine for Indian Navy aircraft carrier

Eurotex International Ltd has built a generator engine for the INS VIRAAT, the aircraft carrier of the Indian Fleet. The totally rebuilt unit, a Paxman Ventura 16YJCAZ, will now enter service as a zero hour unit and the removed engine will then be rebuilt to 2006 specifications. The object of the exercise is eventually to bring all of the ship’s generators up to date and store one spare unit in India as a strategic stockholding

The plan, now under way and working successfully, will allow extended life expectancy of the vessel and is a major step towards the goal of rehabilitating the active fleet for this esteemed customer.

All the equipment was taken back to bare metal, tested, certified and reassembled using all new moving and consumable components. This has given the unit an ‘AS NEW’ appearance, ready for installation upon arrival

The refit, undertaken within Eurotex International’s ISO9001 – 2000 Quality Accreditation, was carried out to the highest technical level and the final Factory Acceptance Trials were certified by Lloyds and witnessed by Commander Subir Mukherjee, the Technical Advisor to the Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.

030 – Fleet Paxman Ventura engine upgrade programme

The Indian Navy has completed many years of investigation and negotiation to extend the life of the generators aboard their ‘Leander Class’ vessels by overhauling and upgrading the Paxman Ventura 8YJCAZ engines on board.

Contracts for the first two units were awarded to Eurotex International Ltd. The engines were returned to the company’s facility in the UK for comprehensive rebuild and test under strict ISO Quality Accredited regulations and in accordance with the high standards set by Eurotex International.

The accompanying pictures aptly illustrate the condition of the units upon return and the quality of the refit that took place to bring them back into operation. They now match 2006 specifications and meet all necessary performance criteria for the extended life required by the customer.

This contract is the forerunner of more engine refits to be undertaken by the Indian Navy. Watch this space for more details!

029 – Supply of two Paxman 12YJCAZ generators

Eurotex International Limited has completed a contract placed by a leading UK Government Support Agency for overhauling two 12YJCAZ Paxman Ventura engines.

The company stripped, cleaned, inspected and prepared to ISO 9001 Quality Assured specifications all components required. At the point of preparation, the go ahead was given to rebuild, calibrate and test the units in a simulated engine room environment to replicate true to life running operations.

On successful completion of the pre-test, the client and their end user were present at the Eurotex facilities in the UK for final test and acceptance trials, prior to the units being preserved and packed for shipment overseas.

The engines are now installed on a Naval vessel and are successfully clocking up extensive running hours, to everybody’s complete.
